CLINIC DIRECTOR
Chance Steffey, P.E.
Chance was raised on the North Oregon Coast in Bay City. Chance and Dr. Steffey attended Neah-Kah-Nie High School and graduated together in 1985. Chance attended Western Oregon State College and received his B.S. in the Natural Sciences in 1989. Chance and Lisa were married in 1988, while attending WOSC. After graduation from WOSC, Chance found employment with Chemical Waste Management, Inc. in Azusa, Ca. and was a Environmental Analyst and lead supervisor for the Southern California region. While Dr. Steffey was finishing her last year and a half on various medical rotation around the Northwest, Chance moved the couple to Portland, Or. where he took a position at Tektronix in the Environmental Dept. overseeing the Hazard Waste program at the main campus in Beaverton. Wanting to continue his education, when Dr. Steffey was accepted at the Family Practice Program in Cheyenne, Chance attended the University of Wyoming, in Laramie, Wy. and graduated in 1996 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. After moving to Lander, Wy, Chance went to work for James Gores and Associates, a civil engineering and consulting firm in Riverton, Wy. After moving back to Oregon, Chance worked briefly with Hickman, Williams and Associates and Tye Engineering & Surveying in Bend, OR. When Dr. Steffey decided to acquire the La Pine Community Health Center, Chance joined the practice as their Clinic Director and was responsible for receiving the Rural Health Clinic designation from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, which has helped to make the clinic financially viable. He continues to oversee operations of the clinic.
Chance is very involved with the community. He is a Director of the La Pine Park and Recreation Board, and is interested in seeing opportunities for families to enjoy our natural resources and activities here in La Pine. He is also on the Board of Deacons at the First Conservative Baptist Church of La Pine, and is involved in the AWANA youth program. He is currently on a team in charge of developing the comprehensive master plan for the church. Chance when not at work likes to spend time with his family and enjoys outdoor activities with friends and family. Most vacation time is spent either traveling with his family or on fishing and hunting trips.
LAB/XRAY
Dan & Dennis (Lab Services)
Our CLIA certified, moderately complex, lab provides the ability for many labs and tests to be performed on-site. Other tests are performed at our reference laboratory. Our on-site XRAY machine allows us to obtain immediate information about an acute injury. “Patients may have their physicians’ order tests and the draw can be done at our facility. Results will be forwarded to the ordering provider’s office.”

BILLING & INSURANCE
Jackie, Linda & Marie
We spend much of our time ensuring our patients are billed correctly. This often entails speaking with insurance companies, providers and the patients themselves. we also research potential financial aid and programs for our patients with over 15 contracts and hundreds of insurers, it can be a daunting task to provide accurate information to our patients. We are open to all insurance types including Medicare and Medicaid, and for those who qualify, we offer sliding fee discounts. We are now contracted with the state as a provider for the Oregon Breast & Cervical Cancer Program.

MEDICAL STAFF
Our staff includes multiple experienced nurses and medical assistants. The daily duties of this staff includes prescription refills, referrals, patient-education, patient-care coordination, triage, wound care, coordination with specialty offices.

FRONT OFFICE
Deborah, Stacie & Pauline (Receptionist)
Multiple staff members work diligently to organize medical records so that they are available to providers and the patients. Front office staff, including scheduling, constantly work with the medical staff to best accommodate our patients’ needs and appointment times.

REFERRALS & AUTHORIZATION
Kathy
Many insurance companies require authorizations before a patient can have a procedure done or see a specialist. Kathy makes sure all the paper work is done before an appointment is scheduled. She also coordinates the timing of the appointments for the patient.

MEDICAL RECORDS DEPARTMENT
Patti, Shelly & Lexi (Medical Records)
Our Medical Records Department is the heart of our clinic. As our patient number has increased so has our records department. One of their many duties is locating charts through-out the clinic, which can sometimes be a challenge, but they are always on the lookout. Shelly works very diligently making sure the records department is organized and ready for each day. Patti specializes in dicated chart records.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Jodi
Jodi, our Human Resource Manager, has worked over 30 years as
clinic business manager in Tillamook and Eugene/Springfield, OR before
moving to La Pine in 2003. She received her B.A. degree in Sociology
from Lane Community College, and the University of Oregon. She loves
working with the employees and is excited to see the clinic grow.
